About The Integration
The integration between Epic and Open Health Hub enables structured, standards-based data exchange without disrupting existing clinical workflows. Open Health Hub complements Epic by acting as an interoperability layer around the EHR. Patient- and professional-facing forms, hybrid care pathways, and cross-organizational data flows are handled outside Epic—while structured results are securely exchanged back using FHIR. This allows healthcare organizations to extend Epic with digital intake, monitoring, and networked care scenarios, without custom development inside the core system. Typical outcomes include reduced administrative burden, improved data quality, and faster deployment of hybrid and regional care pathways—while Epic remains the clinical backbone.
How To Connect This
Open Health Hub is designed to connect efficiently with Epic environments and is built around close collaboration with EHR vendors and integration partners. We are in active contact with most vendors, and this experience is reflected in how integrations are configured and managed within the platform. Connections with Epic are configured through the Open Health Hub admin and settings environment. From here, integrations are set up using secure FHIR APIs, identity and access controls, and governance settings. This configuration-driven approach avoids project-heavy custom builds and supports controlled, compliant data exchange. This enables organizations and partners to move quickly from technical alignment to real-world use cases, such as digital intake, hybrid care pathways, and regional data exchange, while maintaining security, governance, and interoperability standards.
